Situation
British Royal Marines on QRF duty at Hazir Bagh are alerted and deployed to meet an ANA standing infantry platoon at Rasman barracks. ICOM chatter has tipped-off an urgent threat to Lalezar Oil Field. Insurgents are expected to assault in large number after morning prayers, and ANA forces wish to be ready. In a quick threat assessment, ground commanders agree that covert insertion is essential, our orders are to let the enemy commence their assault in order to identify as many insurgents as possible, as to kill or capture them to reduce the insurgent threat and to gain maximum intelligence. To foil the assault early, would amount to a lost opportunity, but to act too late could result in vital infrastructure for military operations being lost, and support for the Taliban may increase. A temporary landing-zone has been set-up and the commanders of both forces will meet urgently to form a plan to deal with the insurgent threat. Red markers identify known insurgent activity in the last month. It's 0430hrs, expect darkness for 90 minutes approximately into mission execution, with sunrise shortly after. Wind is calm, low-lying fog is clearing up, skies are clear. Continue readingThis ORBAT
