Operation Atlas (2035)
Since 1979, Morocco has claimed Western Sahara in an effort to unify Berber tribes and control its resources, leading to decades of conflict with the Sefrawi tribe, who sought independence for the region. A ceasefire brokered by the United Nations in 1991 temporarily halted the war, but tensions persisted. In 2020, Morocco's internal vulnerabilities were exploited, prompting King Alfonso XIV of Spain to deploy Spanish forces to restore stability. Subsequently, a NATO coalition established a permanent presence near Sefrou-Ramal. Meanwhile, climate change-induced unrest led to the Tura tribe's uprising in the northwest, prompting a United Assistance mission to restore peace in the region.
