Situation

Following a large territory expansion the Middle East by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) - American forces, have rotated to a new area of operations, moving towards the western region of Yemen to aid in direct action, counter-insurgency and training with the Yemeni Armed Forces against the ever growing threat.

• We are aware that IS controls at least 80% of the region.
• Our forces deployed in the region are to regain control, disrupt ISIL operations in the region.

Terrain

Lythium is a province in the west part of Yemen, it is a varied terrain with mountainous areas, cave systems, valleys and cities.
