Operation Fulcrum (2013)

The BAF has an established presence in the region of Uzbin. Having been in Takistan since the early days of Operation Enduring Freedom, the continuous occupation and support of ANA forces against the Taliban has rumours of coming to an end. Along these murmurs, a new wave of insurgency rears its head.

The BAF has an established presence in the region of Uzbin. Having been in Takistan since the early days of Operation Enduring Freedom, the continuous occupation and support of ANA forces against the Taliban has rumours of coming to an end. Along these murmurs, a new wave of insurgency rears its head, working to drive all foreigners from their country and establish their own rule. UNITAF forces have been tasked with keeping the peace in the Area, and quelling any conflict that may arise.

Situation

The war in Afghanistan has been long and the toll on our men has been growing. This unconventional Style of warfare has British Forces watching their back every step of the way. In the Political Sphere, reports of the ANA taking over the protection of the region has many questioning our purpose in the Area. As we hope to withdraw troops and send our boys home, more and more conflicts flare up in the Uzbin Mountain Range.

With ISIS leering at the Taliban controlled Area, in addition to our known Foe, we now have another Player looking to get his share of the cake.

To make matters worse, ANA forces were recently pushed out of their Camp in the north east of this region by IS militants who have moved into the valley to try and take over this region.

Terrain

The Uzbin Mountain Range is a remote, mountainous area near Mainland Takistan, comprising of mostly scattered Settlements and Communities generally not bothered by outside activities. A large percentage of the populace comprises Farmers and craftsmen, some even known to manufacture their own Small Arms. From previous reports, British presence in the Area is generally tolerated, yet we expect a change in mentality due to the encroaching forces.

Tasking

We aim to regain our grasp in this area through our standard presence patrols alongside specialized tasking when we receive intel on the insurgents.

  • Ensure the Groundwork for an independent ANA is formed
  • Quell any conflicts arising in the Area
  • Presence Patrols and disruption of ISIS/ Taliban Recruitment efforts
  • Get and stay in good standing with CIVPOP

Supporting Forces

  • ANA, Afghan National Army

ANA stationed in the Area have been receiving extensive training by NATO Forces, and are expected to take over our Taskings in the foreseeable future. They are given the same basic Objectives as us, Peacekeeping and Combat Patrols.

Enemy Forces

Due to the complicated and strained Relations in the Area, both ISIS and Taliban are present in the region, fighting over strategic Terrain. Skirmishes between the two Factions have become more frequent, leaving the well-being of the Civilian Populace uncertain.

  • Taliban
  • ISIS

Above: Anything from basic Civilian clothing, to customised Vehicles fitted with Weapons can be expected. Due to these Combatants living in the Region, they have an extensive knowledge of the Mountains and Valleys, and are using said knowledge to lay in wait and ambush targets of Opportunity. They are known to mix in with the Civilian Populace, and generally receive Support from some of them.

ISIS

Above: ISIS Being the Newcomer to the Region and generally being better supplied and trained than Taliban makes these Opponents no easy task to defeat. What they lack in Terrain knowledge, they more than make up for with their Numbers and captured Equipment. Since their Arrival, more and more abandoned ANA Assets have fallen into their hands, such as Body Armour, Helmets, and in rarer cases even Main Battle Tanks. They care little for the Civilian Populace, and will not hesitate to assimilate entire Communities, if required.
