Ingress/Egress

A FAC may require a CAS attack to be conducted from a specific direction to ensure safe and effective employment of weapons. This may be required for reasons including:

  • Deconfliction with friendly forces.
  • Avoidance of restricted airspace, such as air defence threats or national boundaries.
  • Reducing the risk of friendly fire during Danger Close engagements.

Ingress and egress directions can be specified using one of two methods:

  • Cardinal Direction
    • Example: “Ingress from north-east to south-west.”

  • Pre-established Marker
    • Example: “Ingress from Marker Alpha.”
