Breaks contact effectively
Breaking contact is done by conducting a team bound, but away from the enemy, instead of towards them. The designation and instruction is the same except instead of “bound” it is “break contact”.
e.g. “Break contact by Fireteam” means that the Squad Leader wishes to break contact, with one Fireteam moving first, and the other holding to protect them as they move.
The holding element should deploy concealment smoke in front of them, since it is better to move quickly without the enemy being able to engage effectively, than to try to establish fire superiority with clear vision. Suppressive fire in the enemy direction is still encouraged, in order to slow their movement.
