Give a Structured Casualty Report (CASREP)

INITIATE: Identify the requesting party and acknowledge the request.

Example:

1-0: "1-2, this is 1-0, send CASREP."

1-2: "1-0, this is 1-2, WAIT OUT."

  • GATHER: Take 30 to 60 seconds to collect accurate information on casualties.
  • REPORT: Deliver the CASREP using triage categories in the following order:
    • Immediate: Life-threatening injuries requiring urgent care.
    • Delayed: Serious but not life-threatening injuries.
    • Minimal: Minor injuries requiring minimal care.
    • KIA (Killed in Action): Number of deceased.

Triage states in accordance with Identify the triage category of a patient FM/BS-188

Example CASREP: 1-2: "1-0, this is 1-2. CASREP: 1 Immediate, 2 Delayed, 1 Minimal, 1 KIA"

REQUEST (if needed): Include a request for assistance if required.

Example: 1-2: “1-0, this is 1-2. CASREP: 1 Immediate, 2 Delayed, 1 Minimal, 1 KIA - request medical assistance.”

By following this structure, leaders and medical units can quickly assess and respond to casualty situations, improving the overall effectiveness and survivability of the unit.
