April 18, 2002. In the months following the retreat of Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters into Pakistan, coalition forces begin to conduct counterinsurgency operations in south-eastern Afghanistan in an attempt to both flush out any remaining insurgent threat and to provide humanitarian aid to those who have suffered during the conflict. However, due to the rising tensions between Iraq and the United States, much of the Western support in Afghanistan has been diverted to the Persian Gulf and remaining forces are to continue their objectives with limited supplies and troops... As part of these operations, a US Army platoon has been tasked with conducting an armed, long-range convoy around the mountains of the region providing humanitarian aid to the neighboring villages and farms.
