20 September 1944
at 0600 the battalion forward scouts reported enemy self propelled artillery at Nuenen, as well as reports from civilians of German armour and infantry moving into the area.
In the aim of security the right flank of Eidhoven, the 506th PIR is moving out of Tongelre towards Nuenen with support of the British 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars of the 11th Armoured Division. Their objective is so secure and hold the town.
