Situation

Background Information

Following a successful reoccupation of FOB Martin, UNITAF forces have re-established a permanent presence in the area. Since our arrival we have identified Taliban movements out of the area, suggesting that they are relocating. Despite their withdrawal we believe there are still remnants of fighters in the area, we have narrowed their likely operation base to two compounds in the vicinity of Limar. At the same time we have had reports of IED activity along the main access routes and around the village. Indicating that the remaining fighters intend to continue their fight with UNITAF forces while intimidating the local population. You are tasked with patrolling the village, handing out aid, gathering intel, confirming there is activity in either of the likely compounds and neutralizing the threat.

Friendly Forces

BRAVO 1 Infantry squad

Supporting Assets

Arnhem Coy can scramble air support or medevac in the case of emergency.
Resupply will be carried out from FOB Martin if needed.

Enemy Forces

Taliban forces in the Lythium Valley are assessed as well equipped, well funded, and aggressively led. Enemy elements consist of light infantry armed with small arms, RPGs, PKM and DShK machine guns, and extensive IED capability. Fighters are terrain-familiar and supported by local logistics networks tied to the opium trade. Command and control is decentralized, enabling rapid, independent action by small units.

Execution

Commander's Intent

Primary Objective: "Secure the roads in and around the town of Limar, destroying or defusing any potential I.E.D found." Secondary Objective: "Provide humanitarian aid to the local population and improve reputations in the region, potentially receiving intelligence on nearby enemy forces." Tertiary Objective: "Assault and destroy key potential enemy encampments and supporting assets".

Tasks and Sequencing

General movement plan: "Bravo Section will be stationed at FOB Martin approximately 2km north of Limar before they begin their foot patrol from WP-1 to WP-4. They will then offer to provide whatever humanitarian aid they effectively can to the local population (e.g rations, water, medical attention) and be ready to receive potential intelligence on nearby Taliban activity. Time permitting, the section will then act on any gathered intelligence, including compound raids or assaulting enemy entrenchments."
