Situation

Background Information

After extensive probing attacks, US assaults on the Summa region have frozen during the winter. with the thawing snow, another Advance, spearheaded by Dog Platoon, is initiated. Dog's objective is to fight their way towards a regional Wehrmacht HQ in Summa, and sever an important command node in the region.

Execution

Commander's Intent

The purpose of the mission to to break through the barricades on the MSR and capture the German stronghold in SUMMA

Tasks and Sequencing

DOG 9 PHASE 0 ALL CALLSIGNS will brief in the FRP and lead out North on the MSR in the following ORBAT. TITAN 1 carrying DOG 1 TITAN 9 carrying DOG 3 DOG 9 PAPA 4 TITAN 2 carrying DOG 2 When the column has reached AP-1, or when contacted by OPFOR at the crossroads DOG 9 will commence Phase 1. PHASE 1 Arriving at AP-1, units will commence a Platoon ASSAULT and CAPTURE the crossroads. Combat Engineers embedded in DOG callsigns will destroy any barricades and wire preventing mechanised and logistical access, allowing us to move freely into the OPFOR occupied lands EAST of SUMMA. Upon capture of the crossroads, and TITAN being able to move across, DOG 9 will commence Phase 2. PHASE 2 DOG 1 will move to the far North, then West, clearing enemy positions and fortifications, as well as any blockades on roads DOG 2 will move to the Centre, then West, clearing enemy positions and fortifications, as well as any blockades on roads DOG 3 will move to the far South, then West hugging but not entering the minefield, clearing enemy positions and fortifications, as well as any blockades on roads TITAN will operate from behind DOG 2 ensuring that they are able to maneuver the roads, and in a position to support each of the 3 infantry squads as needed. PAPA 4 will establish a FRP North of the crossroads, that can be used to repair and resupply TITAN , and DOG if needed When each element has reached Phase Line 2, they will hold and DOG 9 will commence Phase 3. PHASE 3 Each infantry element will move towards the German HQ in the center of SUMMA clearing enemy positions and fortifications and blockades as needed. The ideal scenario is that DOG 3 is able to maneuver around the south side of town and assault the position from the West, or prevent reinforcements to the HQ as needed. Additionally it is ideal if each infantry element arrives at the HQ at the same time. This will mean that DOG 1 and DOG 2 should ensure steady progress to allow DOG 3 to get into position safely. TITAN will support each infantry element as needed, and ensure that they can any QRF routes into town from the West, covered. Upon CAPTURE of the German HQ and REPEL of any QRF/Counterattack, DOG Platoon will REGROUP at the HQ and ENDEX.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply

ALL CALLSIGNS will cross the LD fully loaded according to the units SOP. These supplies will come from the staging area. This basic load is expected to sustain the team throughout the mission.
