The Scandinavian island nation of Mehland has recently begun expanding its infrastructure. However, it appears that construction began within a designated nature reserve. Despite opposition from environmental activists, construction continued, causing tensions to rise. The activists eventually became violent, going as far as bringing firearms in an attempt to halt construction. Due to Mehland being a small nation without a standing army of its own, they hired PMCs to provide security for the construction site. This proved effective, and the activists ceased their attempts to obstruct construction. However, it appears that the PMCs hired by Mehland are of questionable integrity. They have begun bringing in additional forces and fortifying their positions within the area, indicating an intention to remain there indefinitely. The PMCs have demanded an exorbitant sum of money to withdraw from the area, far exceeding the amount agreed upon in the original contract and effectively breaching their agreement with Mehland. They have stated that should Mehland refuse or be unable to meet their demands, they will retain control of the area and establish it as a permanent base of operations. Unable to meet these demands or forcibly remove the PMCs themselves, Mehland has begun calling upon external actors for assistance. The UK government has decided to intervene under an agreement granting them access to Mehland's offshore oil fields. As a result, RHINO Platoon has been deployed to deal with the threat.
