Scheme of Support By Fire

Gun Team Responsibilities To permit successful operations, the Weapons Squad must achieve objective isolation through constant suppressive fire. To maintain 240B's in operational state:
  • Machinegunners: alternate fires, talking guns according to issued fire rates
  • Assistants: link belts to prevent stoppage, change barrels, and assist with targeting
  • Ammo Bearers: construct fighting positions, spread load ammunition, and maintain security
  • Infantry Team Leader: assigns sectors of fire, fire rates and coordinate shift fires

Fire Rates & Ammunition To ensure blocking effects, the following enhanced fire rate orders will be used:
Method Approx. Rounds Burst Delay Suppression
Sustained 6-8 Rounds 2 Seconds Moderate
Rapid 10-12 Rounds 1 Seconds Heavy
Cyclic 12+ Rounds Alternating Fires Maximum
To manage weapon heat and make maximum use of ammunition reserves, machinegunners will alternate fires, talking guns according to issued rates of fire. Ex:
ITL: Shift fire to objective Lightning, switch to sustained rate of fire, starting on gun 1. Gun 1: *takes aim, fires 6-8 round burst* Gun 2: *waits for 2 seconds, fires 6-8 round burst* Gun 1: *waits for 2 seconds, fires 6-8 round burst*
