Situation

Background Information

HUMINT provided by CPERS from a recent operation around the Western side of the region has pointed to a Russian plan to recapture COP Manchester and the industrial infrastructure within. This cannot be allowed to happen; since taking the COP we have discovered heavy manufacturing and machining equipment outfitted to mass produce munitions in a very efficient manner. Taking this infrastructure has no doubt dealt quite a blow to the enemy supply situation in the nearby region, and holding on to it will not only prevent the enemy from using the infrastructure for supplies- it will provide an effective point from which to launch further attacks on Russian positions to the North-East.

Canadian Joint-Ops Command (CJOC) have provided a company-sized force of specialist infantry equipped with heavy weapons and supported by engineers in order to ambush the Russian forces intent on taking COP Manchester.

An update from the MILINT teams working on acquired Russian hardware from various operations indicates that the Russians have been battling against some form of guerrilla force around the North side of the region. Joint-Command HQ is very interested in not only finding out more about these resistance-types, but linking up with them to co-ordinate attacks on Russian positions. Keep a sharp eye out for any indication of their presence; Russian intelligence mentioned the village of Uutela in relation to this- a position which is within your AO.

Friendly Forces

Infantry company equipped with heavy anti-vehicle launchers and supported by sappers.

Supporting Assets

Friendly defence teams standing by at COP Manchester.
Resistance Forces are suspected to be acting in your AO- it is imperative that you make friendly contact with them should you come across any. They will be friendly to Joint Command troops.

Enemy Forces

Russian regulars; mixed heavy armour and mechanized infantry supported by rotary-wing aircraft. The enemy force is expected to stage it's forces at the surface mine at OBJ Styx, and send a diversionary attack through MSR Iso Tie.

There is a heavy presence of enemy AAA positions.

Mission

Tasking

Warlock Company are tasked with setting up in ambush positions to deny the enemy access to COP Manchester. To the East, intelligence has identified an intended staging area for Russian assault forces [OBJ Styx]. There also exists a Russian FOB and garrison around the village of Aarre to the East- dismantling these after halting the assault force will help to secure the immediate region around COP Manchester and make further attacks much more difficult. Primary Tasking -Halt the advancing Russian assault forces -Secure the Russian FOB -Dismantle the Russian garrison forces at Aarre. Secondary Tasking -Secure the fortified checkpoint on MSR Iso Tie -Prep explosives at the Russian staging area to assist the ambush -Locate any further intelligence on enemy activity and plans -Located intelligence on guerrilla forces working against the Russians. POI Identifiers OBJ Styx: Russian staging area for their assault on COP Manchester OBJ Cerberus: Russian fortified checkpoint on MSR Iso Tie OBJ Artemis: Russian FOB OBJ Apollo: Russian garrison.

End-state

Once the enemy assault has been countered and OBJs Artemis and Apollo secured, the company may choose to retreat to COP Manchester with friendly forces holding their position, or ENDEX in OBJ Artemis.

Execution

Commander's Intent

The purpose of this mission is to ambush Russian plans to recapture COP Manchester in the early hours of this morning, by moving our Infantry Platoons Outlaw and Warlock in the last hours of darkness to both flanks identified by HUMINT using our low profile and attacking the staging Russian forces before they are properly in position to commence their assault. Therefroe it is essential that we are not spotted before we have the chance to do so. Following Phase 1 Operations, to continue momentum where possible, to achieve strategic objectives outlined above.

Tasks and Sequencing

The Company Commander will brief the movement plan prior to step off, and each Platoon Leader will brief their Squads on the specifics of their objectives. During Phase 1, Support Engineers from the Company attachement will be assigned to the OUTLAW and PHANTOM Platoon Leaders to assist with mines and explosive ordenance. OUTLAW will travel on foot approximately 2.5 clicks to the Crossroads west of COP Manchester on MSR Iso Tie. OUTLAW will set-up a prepared ambush using firing positions, explosives and mines using trenches to form an L shaped ambush on the expected diversion of enemy vehicles from the west. OUTLAW will engage enemy vehicles as they enter their kill zone. PHANTOM will travel on foot, south west 3 clicks to OBJ Styx, moving carefully to avoid potential enemy scout or recon patrols, position in readiness for an ambush on the surface mine, where Russian forces are expected to stage for refueling and rearming prior to assaulting on the western flank of COP Manchester. The Company will maintain strict weapons red, until OUTLAW is engaged, at which point the PHANTOM Platoon Leader is authorised to engage also. Should PHANTOM be spotted or engage prior to OUTLAW, OUTLAW will likely be re-directed to Phase 2. Beyond Phase 2 Preliminary plans for movement beyond Phase 1 see OUTLAW extending it's position on the north of MSR Iso Tie to a Woodland Area 600M east of OBJ Artemis to provide base of fire for PHANTOM approaching south of OBJ Cerberus. Initial plans will see both platoons continuing movement North to OBJ Apollo should time allow. With Russian forces operating it territory to the West, it's imperative that PHANTOM further mines MSR Iso Tie west of OBJ Cerberus.

Administration/Logistics

Resupply

GROUNDHOG will standby with Ambulances, and LOGPAKs, with LOGPAKs planned early in Phase 1 for vital Heavy and Medium AT supplies to be delivered to OUTLAW and PHANTOM as soon as required.

Assistants should carry Heavy and Medium AT rounds in Phase 1 as much as possible, as we're expecting to use a substantial amount of AT, and less 5.56 until Phase 2.

Medical

The primary means of MEDEVAC are ground ambulances of GROUNDHOG 4-1.

Rules of Engagement

EPWs should be turned over to WARLOCK or GROUNDHOG and processed at COP Manchester.
