What these rules are
To keep every ORBAT consistent and fair, each role and unit type has rules on how an ORBAT may use it: which unit it sits in, how many people it can command, and who it needs nearby.
The ORBAT builder checks these rules on every ORBAT built for a mission, and this page lists them all in one place. Pick a role or unit type to read its rules.
- Required
- The ORBAT cannot be published until it is put right.
- Advisory
- The planner may go ahead, but gives a reason.
SF Commander (≤45) Field Leadership
Open the role- Required Commands at most 44 people, in its unit and the units below. Operations · Every platform
- Required At most one in a unit. Operations · Every platform
Named in other rules
- Squad Advisory Holds exactly one SF Commander (≤45), Squad Commander (≤15), Squad Commander (≤28) or Squad Leader (≤15), counted together. Names SF Commander (≤45), Squad Commander (≤15), Squad Commander (≤28) and Squad Leader (≤15): shown on each too. Operations · Every platform
The ORBAT builder checks these. A required rule stops an ORBAT being published; an advisory one asks the planner for a reason.
Making a rule Required or Advisory
Holders of Promote ORBAT rules make a rule Required, or Advisory again, from its row on the role. When more than one must agree, the ask waits on the rule; the one who asks counts as the first.
1 must agree to make a rule Required, and 1 to make one Advisory again.
A rule naming another combat area's role is made Required only once that area agrees too.
