Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with unguided bombs

  • Positively identify the target before engagement.
  • Establish a stable attack profile appropriate for the chosen employment method.
  • Align the aircraft with the target.
  • Release ordnance based on altitude, speed, and attack angle.
  • Assess observed effects following weapons release.

Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with unguided rockets

  • Positively identify the target before engagement.
  • Maintain a stable aircraft attitude during weapons employment.
  • Establish and maintain an effective firing range.
  • Employ rockets as single shots or ripple fire based on the target and situation.
  • Assess observed effects following weapons release.

Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with laser-guided munitions

  • Positively identify the target before engagement.
  • Confirm a continuous laser designation is available.
  • Align the aircraft and release the munition within the correct engagement envelope.
  • Maintain laser designation until weapon impact.
  • Assess observed effects following weapons release.
Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with infrared guided munitions

  • Positively identify the target before engagement.
  • Acquire and maintain an infrared lock on the target.
  • Confirm sufficient thermal contrast for successful guidance.
  • Release the munition within the correct engagement envelope.
  • Maintain target tracking until weapon impact where required.
  • Assess observed effects following weapons release.
Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with TV guided munitions

  • Positively identify the target before engagement.
  • Acquire and maintain a visual lock using the targeting pod.
  • Confirm sufficient target contrast for successful tracking.
  • Release the munition within the correct engagement envelope.
  • Maintain target tracking until weapon impact where required.
  • Assess observed effects following weapons release.
Employment Techniques

Engage ground targets with radar guided munitions

  • Employ radar guided munitions using the appropriate guidance method:
    • Lock-On
      • Use the targeting pod to acquire and lock onto the target, similar to laser-guided munitions.
    • Radar-Guided
