The role

As part of a Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) a MERT Officer is a experienced Medic who travels as part of a rapidly deployable airborne hospital known as MERT. As the most Senior Medic deployed they have the final say in Medical Treatment, and commands the MERT by directing the pilots and Doctors of the MERT as well as communicating with the ground based coordinator, usually an assistant to the Ground Commander.
